10 'Glee' Guest Stars Of Our Dreams

Gwyneth Paltrow experienced a major career resuscitation recently after appearing on 'Glee.' Maybe all the cards lined up at the right time, but as Holly Holliday, Gwyneth did an excellent job of melting the so-called "icy" exterior that comes with being skinny, blond and born into money.

And things aren't looking so bad for John Stamos, either, who continues to reprise his role as the charming Carl. In fact, a cameo on 'Glee' seems to provide a healthy career boost even to those who don't necessarily need it, including Katie Couric and Carol Burnett (and reportedly Javier Bardem in the near future).

The list should and will go on as Ryan Murphy's show continues to dominate the ratings, the music charts and the cultural zeitgeist. Of course, we have our own fantasies about the show (get your head out of the gutter), including celebrities we'd love to see make an appearance. Here, the top 10 'Glee' guest stars of our dreams.

No stranger to 'Glee' head honcho Ryan Murphy (she had a recurring role on his cosmetic surgery nightmare 'Nip/Tuck'), the former talk show host may not be the best singer in the world, but lord knows she tries, and all because she loves it. She made it abundantly clear that she's a theater nerd for life, and seeing her pop up in any capacity would make perfect sense.

Yes, she was once Princess Leia. She's over it, and you should be, too (JK, do whatever you want). But the hilarious writer, actress and current face of Jenny Craig is actually a very talented singer, although perhaps that's been dwarfed by her incandescent wit. Judging by her brilliant cameo on '30 Rock,' it's clear that Carrie would bring her signature sass to 'Glee,' and we'd eat up every bit of it.

RuPaul
A drag queen? On 'Glee'? Why not? Ru, who basically holds the fate of Logo in her hands at this point with the hilarious 'RuPaul's Drag Race' (and its numerous iterations), is a natural performer in any capacity. Not only can the girl sing, but she knows how to work, too. And if you think packaging an enormous, mouthy drag queen into a role on a sitcom is too outrageous a task, then may we introduce you to Ryan Murphy?

Well, duh. She's Mary Poppins. She's Maria from 'The Sound of Music.' She's, like, the queen of this whole singing-like-you're-talking thing. She practically invented it! And, on top of all of that, Julie Andrews is British! It's high time somebody brings some Anglophilia to Lima, Ohio, and that includes crumpets. Just don't get any crumbs on Emma's desk (we can see it already!).

Call him Luda or Chris Bridges, but whatever you do, don't call him lazy. The rapper has seen an explosive career in film and television, appearing on 'Law & Order: Special Victims Unit' and in films like 'Crash' and 'No Strings Attached.' He may not be a traditional singer, but if anyone needs to be schooled in the ways of rap, it's Matthew Morrison as Mr. Schue. Any time that dude opens his mouth to "drop some dope rhymes," it leaves us cringing so much, we end up in the fetal position, hoping someone comes to the rescue. And our pick for that superhero is Luda himself. SAVE MR. SCHUE!

Sure, she killed it on 'Will & Grace,' making a name for herself as loud-mouthed boozehound Karen. But she's always been gay-friendly (and, therefore, 'Glee'-friendly), appearing on Broadway in 'Grease,' 'Young Frankenstein' and opposite Matthew Broderick (and John Stamos!) in 'How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.' Sure, she may be spending her time singing disco knockoffs and shilling butter, but where she really belongs is on this show! We'd love to see her go toe-to-toe with Jane Lynch, who may tower over her in size, but definitely not in demeanor. FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT!

A legend of The Great White Way (and also an alumnus of childhood nightmare 'Zoobilee Zoo'), the Broadway icon could jump rope and we still wouldn't blink. Where he could fit in on 'Glee,' we're not sure, but considering his extensive resume -- from 'Chicago' to 'Pippin' to 'Jesus Christ Superstar' -- the dude would be one hell of an acting coach to Miss Rachel Berry. In fact, does Rachel Berry tap dance? Because she could learn a thing or two from Ben Vereen.

The famously feisty lead singer for The Police has held his own on TV before, providing a dead-on impersonation of Billy Idol on 'Saturday Night Live' way back when (blink and you may have missed him in 'Julia and Julia,' too). Going on those credits alone, there's a good chance that the English rock star could shake things up at McKinley High. Give the guy access to the auditorium, and watch the New Directions go wild.

The 'Private Practice' star was the first to portray Benny in the hit musical 'Rent,' although most people were first introduced to the actor in 'How Stella Got Her Groove Back.' In real life, he's married to Idina Menzel, who plays Lea Michele's biological mother on the show, so how about a tongue-in-cheek B-story romance between Rachel Berry's real mom and the so-handsome-you-might-go-blind Taye Diggs?

J-Hud can surely identify with feeling like an outcast (see 'American Idol,' season three), which would only enhance the experience if she were to cameo on 'Glee.' We can already see her as Mercedes' (Amber Riley) no-nonsense cousin, who is the secret mentor behind the most diva-est of divas on 'Glee' (sorry, Santana). Newly slender, the Oscar winner hasn't lost one bit of her signature attitude (and killer pipes), which would only do her favors on the show.
