Exhibit opening to mark 1974 shooting between LA cops and Patty Hearst kidnappers

An exhibit commemorating the 1974 shootout between the LAPD and members of the Symbionese Liberation Army ? the kidnappers of newspaper heiress Patricia Hearst ? will be unveiled Wednesday at the Police Department's Historical Society.

TV news crews were at the site of the shootout at a house on East 54th Street, where the SLA was holed up. Viewers around the country watched as tear-gas canisters fired by the LAPD se the structure ablaze.
