Photographer Gunter Sachs has committed suicide at the age of 78.
Gunter Sachs, who is most well-known for his playboy ways in his heyday and his short marriage to actress Brigitte Bardot, has taken his own life at age 78.
Sach?s family issued a statement saying the German-born photographer decided to commit suicide because he was suffering from a degenerative disease that affected his memory and ability to speak.
?I have always stood up to big challenges,? the statement read.
Sources report that Gunter shot himself on Saturday at his home in the Swiss Alpine resort of Gstaad.
Sachs was born into a wealthy family in 1932, and used his inheritance to fund his glamorous lifestyle.
Gunter was known as quite the playboy and had friendships with many celebrities, including artist Andy Warhol.
Sachs is survived by Brigitte Bardot, to whom he was married for three years, his third wife former model Mirja Larsson and their sons Christian and Alexander, and son Rolf from his first marriage.
There will be a funeral held for close friends and family.
