To Do List, Notes & Task Manager: the Best Applications

This is a guest post by Daniela Losini of Girl Geek Life, our media partner in Italy.

If you are someone who loves to stay organised and honour their commitments, but doesn?t want to waste time trying to remember a list of tasks, these iPhone applications are for you!

The apps range from simple to-do lists with a tick-box task manager to more sophisticated tools to help you manage a project or a more complex job.

This is my favourite kind of application; I often sift through the App Store looking for the ideal to-do-list. The requirements I have in mind are: speed, convenience, usefulness, and in some cases, diversity.

Today Todo - 2.39, and my favourite. It is not free (except for the lite trial version), but it?s intuitive with attractive graphics. Assign tasks to do Today, Yesterday, Tomorrow and Someday. In addition, each task can be categorised by colour depending on the urgency and the number of tasks for that day will appear in red on the icon of the app. It?s impossible to forget things!

Do It Tomorrow - free. Graphically it looks like a real notebook, very minimal but useful.

Awsome Note - 2.39. Definitely more than the classic to-do list. Your calendar is divided into custom folders and sub-menus. It can also be used as task manager to organize a project. Constantly updated and evolving. Excellent.

Simplenote - free. Simple and effective: take note of things to do and synchronise with your computer or share.

Sticky Notes - 0.59p. Do you like post its? Then Sticky Notes is for you. Create virtual post-its, stick them up with a choice of various layouts and formats and email them to a group.

Task This - free. Very elegant and articulate: divide tasks according to urgency and with other icons in the Start menu of the app. Clean, useful and includes a notifier for reminders of time-critical or important tasks.

To do Lite - free. Thin, easy and minimal: to-do lists divided by areas. Work, home, leisure synchronized and shared via email.

Zen Task - free. The name of the app says it all: essential, clear, no-frills. Tasks for today, tomorrow and an archive of completed items. Synchronise and export lists.

Mental Notes Lite - free. Linear and clean, allows you to take notes and make lists with the help of voice memos and visual prompts (you can take a picture and remember to comment on an idea for example). Useful and versatile.

Moleskine - free. Useful to communicate visually with the inclusion of photos, to create lists of things to do on the notebook's widely used virtual world or to plan a real design task.
