Southland gas prices rise again

LOS ANGELES - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose a half-cent today to $4.235, the highest since Aug. 2, 2008.

The average price is 1.8 cents higher than a week ago, 20.1 cents above what it was one month ago and $1.141 greater than it was one year ago, but 39.1 cents less than the record high of $4.626 set on June 21, 2008, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The average price fell one-tenth of a cent Tuesday after rising 33 times in 34 days.

The Orange County average price rose two-tenths of a cent today to $4.217, the highest since July 31, 2008.

The 35th increase in 36 days pushed the price 1.6 cents higher than a week ago, 19.3 cents above what it was one month ago and $1.124 greater than one year ago.

The average price is 38.1 cents less than the record high of $4.598 set on June 19, 2008.
